Did Ryan Reynolds just confirm his next Deadpool appearance in the MCU? The actor loves a tease and shared a particularly tease-y photo on social media that has many Marvel fans speculating whether he will return as the Merc with a Mouth in next year's event film, *Avengers: Doomsday*.

Late Monday night, Reynolds posted a shot to Instagram of a red A graffitied over the official Avengers logo. ** reached out to both Reynolds' personal rep and Marvel Studios for comment.

Reynolds made a massive splash in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with last year's *Deadpool & Wolverine*, the third Deadpool movie that also brought back Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, as well as a slew of superhero castings from the defunct 20th Century Fox era of superhero movies.

James Marsden calls 'Avengers: Doomsday' return a homecoming to 'X-Men' role

Jennifer Garner's Elektra, Wesley Snipes' Blade, Chris Evans' Johnny Storm of the Fantastic Four, and a buttload of mutants (including Aaron Stanford as Pyro) were included in the multiverse-hopping, fourth wall-breaking jaunt.

So far, Channing Tatum, who played card-slinging mutant Gambit, is the only *Deadpool & Wolverine* actor confirmed for *Avengers: Doomsday*. But fans have been theorizing heavily about where Deadpool's next appearance might come.

*Avengers: Doomsday* is turning into a massive X-Men party with multiple actors from that era of superhero movie-making reprising their roles. Patrick Stewart (Charles Xavier/Professor X), Ian McKellen (Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto), James Marsden (Scott Summers/Cyclops), Alan Cumming (Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler), Rebecca Romijn, and Kelsey Grammer (Beast/Hank McCoy) — who all appeared in Fox's former X-Men franchise, which began with 2000's flagship title — are confirmed to appear.

If Reynolds is joining the *Doomsday* fray, it could be a big moment for the character. In *Deadpool & Wolverine*, Wade Wilson appears before Jon Favreau's Happy Hogan to see about joining the Avengers. Though, Happy ultimately deems him an ill fit for the job. Perhaps *Doomsday* will finally make it happen.

*Deadpool & Wolverine* dominated the box office in 2024, making $1.3 billion worldwide. In the midst of our current box-office slump, it would make sense for the studio to want that goodwill to continue into *Avengers: Doomsday*. It's also directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the filmmakers who helmed the most profitable Marvel movies of all time, *Avengers: Endgame* and *Avengers: Infinity War*.

*Avengers: Doomsday* is currently filming and scheduled to open in theaters on Dec. 18, 2026.
